Overview

The Summit is seeking an experienced individual to manage the general accounting operations. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations within the department, including but not limited to; accounting administration in accordance with corporate policy, establishing departmental policies and procedures, developing and monitoring all aspects of cash room operations as well as accounts payable. Management functions include; general accounting, financial statements, control rooms, purchasing, and accounts payable. Takes initiative to get any and all jobs completed accurately and proficiently and is someone who is willing to work together as a team to accomplish goals and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position. 

  • Assists and supports the Controller in the direction of all accounting functions of the organization.
  • Assists and supports the Controller in producing information that is accurate, timely and in usable format to ensure financial reporting deadlines.
  • Creates and processes journal entries, purchase orders, accounts payable, and daily sales.
  • Manages cash flow for POS systems and helps reconcile daily tie-outs. Troubleshoots tie-out/cashier issues.
  • Manages and oversees Control Room Supervisor and AP Coordinator.
  • Assists in the month end/year end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain and keep organized and accurate accounting records.
  • Managing the development and implementation of accounting controls and systems to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Develops and maintains job documentation and procedures to ensure understanding accuracy, completeness and timeliness of job assignments and allowing for proper cross training.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, and state tax filings.
  • Contribute to overall department goals by performing other related duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and regulations as they apply to the industry.
  • Understanding of corporate and property specific-policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting functions required.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Accounting and 5+ years accounting experience required. Must have working knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.  Previous managerial experience preferred.
