Overview

Oversee Pump and Compressor department to ensure safe and efficient operation of snowmaking plant under snowmaking manager’s supervision. Sets the standards for safety and quality of work. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests

Responsibilities

  • Together with Snowmaking Manager, manages P&C staff and related paperwork according to resort guidelines for hiring, employee evaluations, disciplinary procedures, and creating and maintaining of schedules for the P&C Department.
  • Conduct and document job and safety training for the department.
  • Perform regular appraisals of staff’s performance.
  • Maintain shift efficiency. Must be flexible and able to cope with plan changes due to weather, temperatures, equipment, and business levels. 
  • Regularly inspect and perform scheduled or unscheduled maintenance on snowmaking plant machinery or infrastructure.
  • Communicate with the Snowmaking Manager on a regular basis to keep updated on work procedures.
  • Maintain equipment logs, drain back-logs, and flow charts.
  • Assist Snowmaking Manager with SPCC Inspections.
  • Keep updated on all mountain operations and snowmaking procedures in order to provide a quality product on a daily basis, including following snow plan and valve plan.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing; assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintaining a friendly and positive attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by Snowmaking Manager and Senior Staff.
  • Working hours may need to be a flexible schedule which is based on Mountain needs, weather, and snowmaking plans.
  • Maintain a dialog with outside service companies that would perform scheduled or unscheduled maintenance on snowmaking plant machinery.
  • Keep up to date on snowmaking technology and processes.

 

Directly supervises 4 to 6 employees in the Snowmaking Pumps & Compressors Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience in Electrical and/or mechanical fields. Strong computer skills required. Ability to handle the physical aspect of on the hill snowmaking duties as needed. Ability to handle the physical aspect of the summer trail maintenance duties as needed.  

Basic math skills are required.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in a professional manner.

Ability to solve practical problems and apply a common sense of understanding.

Valid State Driver's License. Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Card. Resort Certification on any necessary equipment.
