Overview

If you are interested in making the snow that enables people to enjoy skiing and snowboarding at Boyne Highlands, this is the job for you! We are looking for new Snowmakers to join our team! This is a full-time or part-time position with multiple shift options, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the slopes yourself or some of the many other perks that come with working at Boyne Highlands Resort! The primary focus of Snowmakers is to produce machine-made snow, striving for quality and efficiency to help ensure early-season terrain as well as lengthening the ski season.

Responsibilities

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.

  • Load, transport, and set up snowmaking equipment on the hill.
  • Check hoses, nozzles, pipelines, valves, and other related equipment for repair or adjustment.
  • Reposition equipment periodically to direct snowfall to other sections of the trail. This will require using a ladder to adjust tower-mounted snow machines.
  • Monitor, recognize and adjust production as appropriate.
  • Flexibility to do other support jobs around ski area when temperatures are not favorable to make snow. Examples: Repairing hoses, glade work, painting equipment, and other odd jobs in preparation for ski season.
  • Regularly clean dirt and frozen snow from equipment and hoses. Shoveling snow from doors, hatches, and around work areas.
  • Recognize and correct unsafe equipment, placement of equipment, and/or working conditions.
  • Perform regular snow quality checks and calibrate equipment accordingly.
  • Working hours may need to be a flexible schedule that is based on mountain needs, weather, and snowmaking plans. This could include working many days in a row if weather conditions are favorable.

Qualifications

  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Resort Certification on any necessary equipment or vehicles
  • Able to work outside on feet for an extended period of time
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift
