Overview

 If you are interested in working as a Bartender, look no further. Boyne Highlands Resort is looking for new Bartenders to join our team. You will be responsible for serving high-quality drinks to guests as well as taking drink orders and maintaining the bar. Schedules are flexible, allowing you and your manager to find a schedule that fits your lifestyle and giving you the time you need to enjoy the perks that come from working at the Highlands. Bartenders start at $8 per hour plus tips.

Responsibilities

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.

  • Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws.
  • Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
  • Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • Serve snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar.
  • Receive and process customer payments.
  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
  • Welcome and greet guests. Make all guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to take care of them. 
  • Respond promptly and courteously to any customer requests.
  • Answer questions about our food, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services.
  • Communicates absences and schedule changes promptly.
  • Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.

Qualifications

  • Must have SafeServ Certification or be able to obtain one after being hired
  • Prior experience with bartending preferred but not required
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while standing for long hours on your feet.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
