The Snow Reporter is responsible for timely internal and external communication of mountain weather, snow conditions, and operation status; including lifts, runs, Nordic, and terrain park status throughout each day. This position delivers messaging via The Summit’s website, social media, email, phone lines & mobile platforms, on-mountain signage, and third party channels/websites. The Snow Reporter works closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to execute on messaging and content capture. The Snow Reporter will also assist with additional Marketing objectives as necessary. This role Involves working with many on-mountain departments including: Base Area Management, Grooming Department, Park Crew, Nordic Department, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations, and Group Sales and Events.


The Snow Reporter also helps nurture Summit culture, excitement for each day, community, industry relationships, grassroots relations and general stoke. The ideal candidate for this role takes initiative to get any and all tasks completed accurately, proficiently, and in a timely manner.


Position will generally work early morning schedule such as 5am-1pm or afternoon 12pm-6pm.

  • Capture photo and video content of on-mountain conditions
  • Reports snow/mountain conditions, weather, trail & lift, Nordic, and terrain park status in an accurate and timely manner up to six days per week.
  • Create and publish content for Summit social media, as well as assist with web and email updates as needed.
  • Keeps current in industry best practices and recommends new programs/practices/initiatives that can be implemented.
  • Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Assists with event production at the resort as well as distributes event promotion materials.
  • Embodies the on-site persona of The Summit and delivers on guest expectations.

  • Must have excellent ski or snowboard skills, must be advanced level or higher.
  • Must understand basic mathematics and must have reasoning and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrates understanding of snow types and weather as it relates to skiing and snowboarding conditions.
  • Must show demonstrated attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to act quickly & effectively on opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop/Lightroom desired.
  • Must be competent with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be familiar and comfortable in the use of web applications and common social media platforms.
  • Must have excellent organization skills, be able to prioritize effectively and meet required deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.


Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Communications or equally relevant degree preferred; a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience in ski resort

industry, guest relations, communications, or relevant marketing role is required in absence of a degree.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is frequently required to ski or snowboard and regularly required to ski or snowboard with a backpack or camera. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; hike, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. This includes moving event materials or equipment, snow removal, and keeping the office neat, clean, and organized. 


The Snow Reporter works both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The employee will be required to move between base areas and occasionally work off-site.
