As part of Big Sky Resort’s Mountain Sports School Management team, the Nordic Center Assistant Manager will be responsible for Managerial duties when the Nordic Center Manager is unavailable. The Assistant Manager should have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal and external guests. The Assistant Manager will help support staff to insure excellent customer service for retail and Nordic lesson services consistent with Mountain Sports standards.  The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of Big Sky’s Mountain Sports rules and policies as well as resort wide policies, and local Big Sky community knowledge. 


  • Manage instructor schedules in a manner that optimizes business and staff levels
  • Control lesson inventory to ensure availability for guests and maximize available instructors.
  • Communicate with guests and staff in an effective and professional manner
  • Organize lessons to ensure the highest level of quality for guests and maximize instructor performance
  • Be present to ensure lesson quality and offer assistance as needed
  • Manage daily payroll duties
  • Continuously coach and monitor safety awareness and instructor performance
  • Encourage and support Instructors to pursue continuous education and professional development
  • Supervise Nordic retail and ticket inventory
  • Promote teamwork and a positive, cohesive work environment
  • Pursue professional development and leadership growth opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Certified PSIA-AASI level 1 is strongly encouraged, level 2 or 3 is preferred (or international equivalent)
  • A great guest service personality
  • Experience in ski instructing for at least 2 seasons
  • Must be comfortable setting up an environment conducive to safety, fun and learning
  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with guests, supervisors, and co-workers
  • Must be reliable, dependable, and timely
  • Must have a genuine desire to pass on knowledge of the sport and inspire others to enjoy it
  • Must be able to work outside in extreme and quickly changing winter mountain conditions
  • Must be able to maintain a great guest service attitude throughout the season
