The Director of Events is a full-time, year-round position at the Inn at Bay Harbor. Plans, Directs, and Executes the overall strategy for live or virtual meetings & Catered Events at the Inn at Bay Harbor. Defines the staff goals, success metrics and provides leadership for the events department.  Implements best practices and develops event standards, policies and procedures. Reviews event contracts, and has overall responsibility for ensuring events run smoothly and client’s expectations are exceeded.  Events team also promotes Inn at Bay Harbor for local holiday parties, small meetings, and social events for non-hotel guests. Candidate must be available all shifts and days including weekends and holidays especially during the peak summer season.

  • Be responsible for organization of group meetings & social events including room set-up, audio-visual needs, food and beverage, transportation, entertainment, decorations, finding and booking outside activities in which the group can participate (day events, excursions, etc.), and coordinate all other details
  • Communicate verbally and through BEO and standard cover sheet documents to the Food and Beverage Team, Events Team
  • Be an ambassador for customer service
  • Ensure high quality service standards are maintained through continuous reviews of processes and procedures
  • Plan for long term development and success of the events/banquet/catering department
  • Work with F&B management and culinary team to make adjustments to catering guides based on current trends, food costs and functionality
  • Contribute to the planning of future event spaces
  • Develop, train support and manage team leaders to succeed in their roles
  • Recruits, manages and schedules event set up, banquet servers, bartender, events captain and support staff roles
  • Recruits, manages and trains event interns
  • Develops and maintains good, working relationships with Boyne sales associates
  • Recommends purchase needs of the events department
  • Monthly and seasonal inventory and ordering event wares, linens, uniforms and supplies
  • Conduct on-site inspections and tours of facilities with prospective clients.
  • Works one-on-one with various meeting planners and group contacts to determine group needs and activities.
  • Organize and oversee all arrangements for corporate, social, group meetings, conventions, and banquets.
  • Administrator, programmer, maintains the Marriott CI/TY system for department

Be Available to Plan and Coordinate in-house and VIP events


  • Must have a Bachelors Degree in a related field 
  • Experience preferred with Marriott CI/TY System
  • Must have 5+ years experience in event planning with 3+ years at a manager or director level
