Server is a full or part-time, year-round position at Boyne Highlands Resort. The focus of this position is to complete tasks consistently, carefully and systematically, in a service friendly environment. The position allows for repetitive communication and interaction with people. It requires someone who is patient, pleasant, and friendly, is a willing and sympathetic listener, a cheerful, amiable talker, and gets along easily with others. The work requires managing the details with somewhat better than average accuracy and with careful attention to the quality. The job will provide close supervision and a stable, secure work group. The steady, methodical nature of this position requires someone who is patient and desires to finish a task without interruptions once started. The position necessitates work completed carefully, systematically, in a relatively unhurried pace, and in the same way unless otherwise directed. The work calls for some maintaining established procedures. The training provided for this position will be ongoing and will provide repetitive practice and written instruction on policies and procedures. Overall, the work environment is relatively low pressure and unchanging, and requires dependable, consistent and steady work habits.
Welcome and greet guests. Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them.
Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
Upsell food and beverage items by using suggestive selling techniques.
Answer questions regarding regions where food products come from, and how food is prepared.
Describe in detail tastes and textures.
Answer questions regarding wine list, where wine comes from the vintage and the aromas & flavors of the wines.
Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter.
Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
Maintain clean service areas
Monitor and observe guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable).
Assist fellow servers as situations arise as needed.
Assist bus person with clearing and resetting tables as needed.
Must be 18 years old. Servers must either possess ServSafe certification or obtain it upon hire.
