Overview

Terrain Park Cat Operators are an essential part in Terrain Park maintenance, Terrain Park and Special Events Construction.  Terrain Park Cat Operators’ efforts should focus on the nightly maintenance of terrain park features.  Terrain Park Cat Operator Supervisor(s) will direct new feature and special event builds.

Responsibilities

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position. 

  • Fill out the equipment checklist reporting snowcats’ conditions prior to shift.
  • Wait for mountain clearance from Ski Patrol or Grooming Supervisor.
  • The grooming requests for the park that were communicated to the Park Grooming Supervisor, can also be found recorded on the dry erase board in the Yurt
  • At the start of the shift, park operators, should FOCUS on any necessary “pushing” and / or blade-work, allowing for snow to “set-up” before tilling.
  • Plan necessary specialty work; new features, jib removal, event course construction, etc  with Park Grooming Supervisor at the start of the shift.
  • Perform maintenance to all groom-able take-offs / landings.
  • Perform maintenance to the normal terrain that surrounds the features.
  • Fill out all forms completely.  Equipment checklist goes to grooming office; fill out your Cats’ paperwork in your Cats’ binder.  Park Groomer Nightly Report and Terrain Park Feature Placement Map will be filled out after each shift at West Cat Shop.  If new features were added or features were moved to a new location a Build Map will need to be filled out.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.  Must be 18 years of age or older.  Previous heavy machine operating experience preferred.
