Overview

The Lift Operator Lead is responsible for assisting the Lift Operations Supervisor with daily operations of their assigned area. These responsibilities include the ability to operate all lifts at their area, break relief for Lift Operators, assisting in Lift Operator training, guest relations, ticket security, crowd control, snow grooming, monitoring of drive and tension terminal machinery, and correct handling of emergency situations. Takes initiative to get any and all jobs completed accurately and proficiently and is someone who doesn’t understand the term “not my job.”

Responsibilities

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.

  • Carry out lift start up procedures. Procedures include checking of drive and return terminal machinery, tower machinery, stops, speed controls, indicator lights, switches, brakes, etc.
  • Ensure guests get themselves and their gear on lift safely by assisting in loading onto chairs and explaining procedures to inexperienced passengers. Maintain an orderly traffic flow in the lift lines. Ensure all guests have the proper ticket or pass to use the lift.
  • Aid guests getting off the lift by watching guests exit the lift and give assistance to those who need it.
  • Monitor the operation of the lift continually, corrects problems by notifying supervisor or lift maintenance of problems or unsafe conditions.
  • Pick up dropped skis, snowboards, poles, clothing, or other belongings for guests and return them to the owner or takes items to lost and found.
  • Provide superior service to guests (internal and external) by following resort etiquette guidelines while interacting with guests. Be knowledgeable of resort services in order to be able to respond to guest inquiries. Respond to all guests and employees in a courteous, efficient manner.
  • Provide relief or extra assistance to Lift Operators at any lift or station as directed by Lift Operations Supervisor.
  • Assist Lift Operations Supervisor in lift operator training.
  • Operate equipment necessary to the job: lifts, snowmobiles, hand tools, snow grooming tools, skis or snowboards
  • Perform assigned tasks not necessarily related to this specific job, but essential to the successful operation of the resort.

Qualifications

Minimum 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Lift operator experience with knowledge of mechanical operation of lifts preferred.  Fluent in any language other than English a plus.
