  • Overview

    The SnowSports LEAD will be responsible for the guest arrival to post lesson experience; operational training; instilling a safety culture; instructor work distribution; and day of administration as it relates to record keeping and payroll that supports the SnowSports School.  The LEAD will also model team work as well as program class delivery that exceeds guest expectations and is aimed toward the conversion and retention of snow sports enthusiasts. Essential focus will be to provide compelling leadership for the employee experience and guide the delivery of exceptional CWL guest services.  By working and playing safely outdoors, the LEAD will contribute to the success with customers and the financial strength of the company and snow sports industry.

    Responsibilities

    • Effectively communicate to develop positive rapport with guests and staff to enhance both guest and employee experience and retention.
    • Encourage existing staff to recruit friends and family to help achieve staffing requirements.
    • Participate in the training and professional development of all instructors.
      • This includes on the job training of instructors while they are working with their assigned lesson groups.
    • Attend all required pre-season and in-season meetings.
    • Accurately record and provide information required to support daily payroll, employee performance evaluations, incident reports and other information as needed.
    • Build client relations in support of Consecutive Week Lessons and other pre-sold lesson products.
    • Be nimble and adaptable to adjust plan if needed to get desire net contribution.
    • Available and ready to teach lessons as needed.
    • Maintain a professional teaching and working environment (eg.: lesson area and staff locker rooms.)
    • Assist SnowSports Supervisor:
      • Deliver programming that supports an ideal model for guest, employee and company.
      • Enthusiastically lead people from start to finish, optimizing the School’s potential.
      • Identify and evaluate guest, employee, and industry trends.
      • Monitor and adjust class sizes to help balance Labor to Revenue Goals and Guest Service Goals.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned.

    COMPETENCIES

    • Lead Team Work – Work effectively with team members to support supervisory staff and front-line employees that guide the guest experience. Help distribute resources (labor and materials) to address variable guest volumes on on-peak and off-peak business days.
    • Lead Professional Development – Orient, train and coach snow sports staff (particularly rookies). Provide in-the-moment, one-to-one coaching to create outstanding employee experiences and enhance employee retention. A Lead must also strive to improve their own personal skiing, riding, teaching and supervisory skills.
    • Lead Guest Experience - Provide all guests (particularly CWL participants) with a caring and inspirational guided snow sport experience.
    • Lead Safety – Actively promote a safety culture with the goal of achieving zero guest and employee incidents per season.
    • Lead Financial Strength – Encourage guests, students and employees who meet service standards to return to match or exceed unit volume goals and achieve desired net contribution.

    Qualifications

    • Profound working knowledge of the Summit SnowSports School or other snow sports school of similar scope including: corporate culture, department goals, policies and procedures and product offerings.
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
    • Ability to evolve, adapt and change.
    • Capability to deal with deadline and workplace pressure, while maintaining a professional presentation.
    • Ability to prioritize high value, high leverage projects, over lower priority tasks to be delivered quickly and efficiently within a lively and often chaotic environment.
    • Ability to guide quality experiences for guests and employees, time and time again.
    • Deliver superior internal and external customer service, to optimize the school’s sales culture.
    • While not mandatory, PSIA/AASI Certification and Youth Credentials are favored.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Siriusware proficient at “associated work related functions”.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
