  • Overview

    The HR Specialist is a full time seasonal position that provides daily guidance on specific Human Resource programs, processes and policies to ensure consistency and applicability.  This position is involved with activities related to administration, on-boarding, employee relations and legal compliance.  The HR Specialist communicates with all levels of personnel and alerts management to any issues that require immediate attention.

    Responsibilities

    The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position. 

    • Responds to general questions on human resources policies and procedures from employees and supervisors
    • Helps facilitate new hire orientation and other training as needed throughout the season
    • Works closely with the Staffing Coordinator to help facilitate the new hire/rehire process
    • Assists with data entry onboarding/off-boarding/data changes in the payroll system
    • Performs daily uniform distribution activities, and maintains uniform inventory control system
    • Manages employee perk programs including Carpool and employee recognition initiatives
    • Compiles content, lays out and publishes the company’s bi-weekly employee newsletter
    • Partners with the FUN Committee to plan and host employee events
    • Helps improve HR initiatives by assisting with existing processes, identifying and clarifying problems and evaluating potential solutions
    • Documents and maintains operational procedures by developing a wide variety of written materials (e.g. forms, SOP’s etc.)
    • Processes and maintains periodic reports as requested by the HR Director
    • Assists with audit responsibilities, including developing and executing audit queries to validate HR data integrity
    • Participates in the monthly Safety Committee meeting as the HR department representative
    • Other Human Resources related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Dedicated to providing exceptional customer service
    • Must have computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel, and database programs.
    • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Adheres to confidentiality policies within Human Resources, and ensures HR database is accurate and secure. 
    • Uses independent judgment, initiative, and good human relations and problem solving skills in the application and follow through on actions.
    • Must show demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential material.
    • Must have excellent organization skills, be able to handle a high number of projects simultaneously, and meet required deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Must have the ability to communicate and relate effectively with a very diverse group of team members.
