  • Overview

    The Trail Builder primary function is to work with the Evergreen Trail Building team to build mountain bike trails in the development of our Summit Bike Park. This position requires a hard worker with some trail building experience, a strong desire to learn trail building techniques and skills, and a passion for mountain biking. This position may work weekdays or weekends.

    Responsibilities

    • Willingness to learn standard trail building and maintenance skills and techniques
    • Clear communication with supervisor and co-workers
    • Work with Evergreen Builders and Summit Project Manager on a variety of trail construction and maintenance activities
    • Ensure work is performed according to objectives and standards
    • Communicate work progress and issues to Crew Leader or Project Manager
    • Ensure hand tools are stocked, organized and in good working order
    • Capable mountain bike skills able to ride black diamond trails safely
    • Positive attitude and team centered approach to working outside manual labor
    • Represent The Summit and the sport of mountain biking in a positive, professional manner at all times
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Able to stand and work outdoors for duration of shift
    • Ability to use hand tools
    • Desire and passion for biking and building trails
    • Desire and ability to work hard and with minimal oversight
    • A high level of strength is not necessary, but endurance and fitness are critical
    • Tolerance for discomfort. Work happens even in cold and wet weather and the ability to maintain team spirit in those conditions is important

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution preferred.  Experience using landscaping or trail building tools required.  Chainsaw operation experience and skills a plus.
