  • Overview

    The Snow Reporter is responsible for timely internal and external communication of mountain weather, snow conditions, and operation status; including lift, run, Nordic, and terrain park status throughout each day. The Snow Reporter also assists with all facets of the Marketing Department. This position delivers messaging via The Summit’s website, social media, email, phone lines & mobile platforms, on-mountain signage, and all identified third party channels/websites of various marketing events, communications, and deliverables. Snow Reporter works closely with Digital Marketing Manager to deliver relevant messages and media to Summit guests. Additionally the reporter will assist in all facets of Marketing Department objectives. Involves work within a team environment including: resort management, Grooming Department, Park crew, Nordic Department, Ski Patrol, and Lift Operations, in addition to the Marketing team including Group Sales and Events.


    The Snow Reporter also helps nurture Summit culture, excitement for each day, community, industry relationships, grassroots relations and general stoke. Person takes initiative to get any and all tasks completed accurately, proficiently, and in a timely manner.


    Position will often work early morning schedule such as 5am-2pm or afternoon 12pm-6pm.

    Responsibilities

    The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.

    • Reports snow/mountain conditions, trail & lift, Nordic, and Terrain Park status in an accurate and timely manner up to six days per week.
    • Creates, publishes, and contributes to all Summit social media, as well as assists with web and email updates.
    • Assists with event production at the resort as well as distributes event promotion materials.
    • Provides the voice of The Summit and embodies the on-site persona of The Summit
    • Assists department in carrying out various daily Marketing tasks that support resort objectives & guest expectations.
    • Keeps current in industry best practices and recommends new programs/practices/initiatives that can be applied and/or implemented within the organization.
    • Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule and adapt to different situations or schedules.

    Qualifications

    • Must display excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
    • Dedicated to providing exceptional customer service.
    • Must have the ability to communicate clearly & relate with snow sports enthusiasts in a meaningful manner.
    • Must have excellent ski or snowboard skills, must be advanced level or higher.
    • Must understand basic mathematics and must have excellent reasoning and analytical abilities.
    • Demonstrates understanding of snow types and weather as it relates to skiing and snowboarding conditions.
    • Must show demonstrated attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to act quickly & effectively on opportunities.
    • Working knowledge of Photoshop/Lightroom desired.
    • Must be competent with Microsoft Office products.
    • Must be familiar and comfortable in the use of web applications and common social media platforms.
    • Must have excellent organization skills, be able to prioritize effectively and meet required deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's Degree in Marketing/Communications or equally relevant degree preferred; a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience in ski resort industry, guest relations, communications, or relevant marketing role is required in absence of a degree.
