  • Overview

    The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing and reconciling various general ledger accounts and other accounting tasks. 

    Responsibilities

    The Staff Accountant's typical job functions include:

    • Analyzing and reconciling various general ledger account reconciliations, including monthly bank reconciliations
    • Working knowledge of all systems and processes to ensure postings to general ledger are accurate; this includes working closely with other resorts to ensure inter-company processing of transaction
    • Verifying, allocating, and posting details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files from documents such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check stubs, and computer printouts
    • Summarizing details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfers data to general ledger
    • Assisting in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports; responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
    • Providing information that is accurate, timely and in usable format to ensure financial reporting deadlines are met
    • Performing accounting and reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
    • Developing and maintaining job documentation and procedures to ensure understanding accuracy, completeness and timeliness of job assignments and allowing for proper cross training
    • Assisting with product configurations for all products for Boyne Mountain in RTP and Aspenware e-commerce solution; this includes implementations, follow up and testing
    • Assisting the bookkeeping team with cash reconciliations, guest calls and support to departmental outlets when necessary
    • Maintaining and keeping filing system

    Qualifications

    This position may be for you if:

    • You are over 18 years old
    • You possess accounting experience; experience in hospitality accounting preferred
    • You have completed a two year Associates degree in Business or Finance preferred
    • You have knowledge of accounting software; able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
    • You possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; able to present information and respond to questions to group of managers, team members, customers and/or public
    • You have strong organizational skills; able to work independently; detail oriented; able to maintain a positive attitude and work well with others
