  • Overview

    Sunday River's HR Team is hiring an organized, thoughtful, and by-the-book Risk & Safety Manager. This position is responsible for the resort's administration of Workers Compensation, Liability and Safety programs and works closely with the Workers’ Comp Coordinator, Director of Human Resources, resort managers and staff to coordinate safety programs and initiatives which pertain to the workplace health and safety of all staff members as regulated by OSHA and Sunday River policies, standards and guidelines.

    Responsibilities

    Workers' Compensation Administration:

    • Coordinate with Workers’ Comp Coordinator to ensure complete, timely and accurate documentation of injury claims by auditing the processing and preparation of all incident related documents, state and insurance reports.
    • Management of accurate records including the development of a file on each injury to include first report of injury, supervisor's report, medical reports and any other information pertaining to the claim.
    • Coordinate with Workers’ Comp Coordinator, ski patrol, health care providers, injured employees, and department managers and supervisors to ensure proper management of injury, assignment of transitional work, quality claims investigation and employee advocacy.
    • Accurately maintain Workers' Compensation and safety databases, Weekly Safety Statistics, Weekly Safety Meeting Tracking and Monthly Workers' Comp Report - to evaluate injury trends and provide data to Director of Human Resources and staff in order to preclude the reoccurrence of accidents through abatement and control claims costs to the Company.

     

    Safety and Risk Management:

    • Coordinate with Director of HR on administration of Company's safety programs to ensure staff and guest safety.
    • Assist Director of HR with the administration of Risk and Liability related claims.
    • Provide articles and training outlines pertaining to safety and/or accident prevention to managers, supervisors and all staff by distribution at weekly operations meetings and the Company Intranet. 
    • Assist Director of HR with Company's compliance with OSHA industry regulations through coordination with department managers on development and audit of policies, procedures, and training.
    • Administration of OSHA Hazard Management Database.
    • Annual administration of OSHA 300 Log.
    • Maintain continuing education of new developments in the field of Safety, Risk and Workers' Compensation through training and coursework.

     

    Secondary Responsibilities:

    • Maintain high competency with information systems and computer databases to run weekly and monthly reports.
    • Coordinate with Director of HR on SR Safety and Wellness initiatives.
    • Assist HR office in daily operations.
    • It is essential that this position maintains the confidentially of all private employee relations, personnel and payroll issues that s/he may encounter while working in the HR Department.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or two year post-secondary degree with at least 2 years of HR related experience, specifically in the fields of Safety and Workers' Compensation.
    • Valid driver's license required.
