    Make a great impression on our guests as a Banquet Captain! This position communicates with the Group Service Coordinators and coordinates the “Handoff” of guests from the Coordinators to the F&B service team. 


    The Banquet Captain coordinates and oversees banquet events and conference room setups to ensure that all banquet functions are delivered, served, and cleared in a timely fashion. Banquet Captains are responsible to meet and greet guests and provide all guests with outstanding customer service. This position must be able to be on their feet for the entirety of their shift and be physically able to lift at least 35 pounds.


    • Manage all daily banquet functions, ensuring that all details on the Banquet Event Orders are followed carefully
    • Oversee the implementation and completion of all events according to the Banquet Event Order in order to successfully fulfill all agreements and optimize customer satisfaction and profitability
    • Directly supervise the work of the banquet service staff, including banquet servers, bartenders, and setup
    • Control all alcoholic beverages during service in order to comply with state laws and regulations
    • Complete closing paperwork and billing, computer entry, and captain’s reports
    • Personally observe the performance of hourly service personnel
    • Communicate group specifications, procedures and changes with affected departments
    • Maintain communication with client in absence of group service coordinator
    • Determine workload requirements from catering orders
    • Interpret the needs of the client and translate into working solutions
    • Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements; address last-minute changes and resolve problems
    • Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service-oriented manner
    • Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items
    • Instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions
    • Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications
    • Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations
    • Serves food and beverages to guests
    • Return food, beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility
    • Ensure proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards
    • Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils
    • Operate at all times within the operating guidelines and standards required by Boyne and Sunday River
    • Ensure proper food preparation by following approved recipes and production standards.
    • Adhere to all Sunday River Resort policies and procedures
    • Adhere to all department, Sunday River Resort and OSHA Safety policies and procedures
    • Read and correct deficiences on Guest Satisfaction Surveys relating to their responsibilities


    High school degree or equivalent required.
