This entry level position is designed for people who enjoy working on machinery, vehicles or electrical circuits. Training is provided to learn how to complete daily mechanical inspections, diagnose issues and perform general maintenance. This position requires the willingness to learn, work through challenges while maintaining composure and is set in an outdoor environment with varrying temperatures and conditions.
This is an hourly position that is predominately scheduled for five days a week. Scheduled days will include weekends and holidays, both winter and summer if/when workload dictates. Overtime is on an as needed basis and often mandatory when needed.
Perform advanced maintenance functions as required by codes regulating the operation of Aerial Tramways along with those set forth by the manufacturer of the lifts. Make operational decisions pertaining to continued operation during wind events. These maintenance requirements are supplemented by a variety of needs that have proven necessary here at Sunday River over a period of time. These functions require many different tasks which range from adjustments and inspections to rebuilding of basic and advanced components, fabricating and welding. As a Mechanic's skil grows, the amount of responsibility and autonomy of this job grows also. Each Mechanic on the crew is required to be a leader at times. Training is mostly on the job and non-structured. Your progress is measured by your ability to complete task as directed, after proper training, and to remember how to perform these task with a minimum of retraining.
Plowing, grooming, making snow, running lifts, selling tickets, checking tickets, food service, housekeeping, parking cars, shoveling snow, garage maintenance, general maintenance, working on ski lifts, sweeping roads, helping with special events, you name it, these and any other number of duties could be a part of this job at any time the need arises.
To be successful at this job, you must have at least 1 1/2 years (combination winter and summer) of LIft Maintenance experience within an established Lift Maintenance crew and have displayed excellent attendance and performance. You must be mechanically inclined, a safe worker, willing to follow directions and work hard within an established although changing and evolving system. Critical path/analytical thinking skills are very helpful to excel at this job. Phyisically you must be capable of routine use of off road vehicles. Repetitive bending , stooping and lifting up to 75 pounds. Climbing and working of 65 feet and working outside in all of natures glory. A positive attitude towards maintenance in general is essential. Also a valid state driver's license is required with no alcohol related convictions within the last three years and not more than three moving violations within the past three years.
