Overview

This is a fun, high energy, and mainly outdoor position! During summer operation, Big Sky Resort allows foot and downhill mountain bike traffic from 2 different lifts. Ticket Checkers are responsible for greeting guests, making sure they have valid tickets, and answering a wide variety of questions. The job entails providing on mountain guest service while maintaining ticket security. Must be comfortable working in outdoor environments, be flexibility in a work place and excellent guest service are a must.

There is a significant amount of area and ticketing knowledge that each Ticket Checker must learn to successfully assist resort guests. A week of paid training at the beginning of employment will provide much of that information, but spending off time at the resort and the surrounding area is necessary to gain additional information.

Ticket Checkers will be in continuous contact with guests throughout their work day. The Mountain Services department is a part of the Mountain Sports and Adventures Division that includes Basecamp. They will also be in direct contact with all of the Mountain Operations team including Lift Operations, Bike Patrol, and Lift Maintenance. They will also see other employees from other departments that are out on the mountain. The Mountain Services team works directly or indirectly with all other departments and divisions at the resort.

Ticket Checkers must work as a team particularly when they are working immediately next to each other in the base areas. They must be able to communicate and work with each other to create the best possible guest experience. The actions of one individual on a team equates to the actions of everyone on that team.

  • Previous experience working in a guest service environment is very important to the Ticket Checker position. • Ticket Checkers will spend extensive amounts of time in the outdoor environment. Temperatures in the mountains in Montana can be quite cold and windy.
