Overview

Inn at Bay Harbor is a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel nestled on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. It is a place and experience that is Exactly Like Nothing Else.

Full-time, year-round position at Inn at Bay Harbor in administration for the hotel and front office area. The position involves a large variety of activities making each day unique in this fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Primary focus is on exceeding our guest and owner expectations by providing efficient and courteous guest service in accordance with the standards of Inn at Bay Harbor.

 

Position is a key contact with guests and team members.

 

Generally, there will be an equal balance of task and relationship focused duties. Seventy percent of time spent is surrounding front office functions and thirty percent in general administration. 

 

Provides daily oversight of front office and hotel functions including: front desk, guest services, (bell staff, concierge, operator, and shuttle service) kids club and other hotel activities. Manages up to six supervisory staff members and up to 30 team members in area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in the prompt and courteous check-in and checkout of guests.
  • Answer questions or problems pertaining to guest suite accommodations and rates; meets with individual guests,meeting planners or owners as necessary.
  • Control cash/credit functions through close supervision.
  • Control overtime through good management and immediate response to problems.
  • Resolve and take appropriate action on any complaints or problems to ensure good guest relations.
  • Maintain responsibility for guest and team member safety. Execute procedures required for handling fire, bomb threats, accidents, unusual occurrences, burglaries, etc. Notifies management of emergency and action taken and carries out further direction.
  • Maintain staff goals and staff awareness in relation to accident prevention, safety, and fire prevention.
  • Inspect all internal departments and outside areas for cleanliness, safety, and maintenance.
  • Be aware of all VIP arrivals, monitor the number of arrivals due to check in, the percent of occupancy expected for the day and if guest services staff anticipates any problems. Adjust operations, staffing, and business needs as appropriate.
  • Attends daily operations and weekly staff meetings for the resorts and initiates regular meetings for department.
  • Input and maintain payroll software for area of responsibility and provides back up to all other areas.
  • Ensure that all reports are prepared completely and on time to develop a more informative database for improved management decision-making and critical evaluation of work activities as needed.
  • Administers and communicates Marriott associate programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must hold a valid driver's license. 

Strong leadership is required for quick decision making and individual must be self-reliant in making decisions without an abundance of data or input from others. Strong communication skills are a must.
