The Pantry Cook's typical job functions include:

• Preparing cold foods, including appetizers, salads and desserts; other cold or hot food preparation may be assigned
• Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware
• Carrying food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas
• Washing, peeling, and cutting various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving
• Assisting line cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed, and provide line cooks with needed items
• Portioning and wrapping food, or placing it directly on plates for service to guests
• Preparing a variety of foods, such as meats, vegetables, desserts, according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures
• Stirring and straining soups and sauces
• Mixing ingredients for green salads, fruit salads, vegetable salads, and pasta salads
• Making special dressings and sauces as condiments for sandwiches; other items may be assigned for daily prep list
• Cutting, slicing or grinding meat, poultry, and seafood to prepare for cooking
• Packaging take-out foods for guests to-go orders
• Distributing food to servers 
• Other duties may be assigned
