Overview

The position provides an excellent opportunity and long-term potential to the candidate possessing an outstanding combination of marketing, management, resort operations experience, and in-depth familiarity with a culture of genuine hospitality. The Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and owning the overall marketing strategy for Boyne Highlands Resort, focusing on revenue growth by driving visitation and occupancy and monetizing year-round guest traffic across each of the resort’s departments/divisions. Director must understand, embrace, and effectively promote the Boyne Highlands Resort brand while working with resort and corporate management to establish marketing goals that align with and support the overall resort vision. Leads a marketing team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies specific to driving skier visits and year-round visitation plus lodging occupancy; create promotional calendars, manage investment in traditional and digital channels including on-property distribution, guide the resort’s social media strategy, and coordinate with various departments and committees to assist as with pricing and revenue management 
  • Responsible for managing and deploying all aspects of the resort brand, including any other related brands for hotels, dining establishments, etc.; and educating team members of branding guidelines to ensure the brand is communicated out correctly and effectively from all touch points
  • Manages Skier Services department to ensure that all winter lift products consistently drive revenue and align with communicated roll out
  • Develop and direct preparation of seasonal marketing plans inclusive of detailed initiatives and strategies to serve both short- and long-term growth of revenues and the resort’s brand
  • Manage a detailed budget, maintaining full responsibility and personal accountability for working within assigned parameters balanced with increasing the resort’s profitability and market share
  • Establish and manage goals for the marketing team, individual and collective, that align with those of the resort and foster both individual and collective successes
  • Review and analysis of campaign performance, guest/market data, and research findings to consistently measure effectiveness and efficiency, utilizing reports and learnings to forecast and adjust as needed
  • Negotiate purchases and terms related to vendors, partnerships, joint ventures, and community projects
  • Remains focused on selecting and analyzing highly effective resources for content creation, media placement, media/community relations, social media, branding, graphic design, event creation/promotion/execution, web development, photography/videography, snow reporting, and administrative duties
  • Leads resort pricing recommendations
  • creating new lift, dining, resort products, and programs to increase revenue and drive resort visitation while remaining within brand guidelines.

Qualifications

  • You can see bigger pictures of how marketing programs and efforts need to work in tandem with operational capabilities.
  • Experience working in the hospitality industry.

Education and/or Experience: Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of four years of marketing leadership experience required. Past experience working in hospitality or a resort environment desired.

 

Computer/Programs Skills: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator); Microsoft Office, SalesForce Marketing Cloud, Content Management Systems (CMS) for website editing and updating.

 

Qualifications: Management experience in SnowSports and/or travel/hospitality industries with proven ability to meet or exceed marketing, resort, and personal goals is essential. Passion for outdoor activities such as skiing/snowboarding and golf are a significant plus. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as the positions demand overnight travel and entertaining outside of normal business hours, as well as work during holiday periods
