Overview

The Security Supervisor is responsible for helping the Director of Security to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Security Department at Inn at Bay Harbor. They are also responsible for working with the Director of Security to ensure that all projects, scheduling, incident reporting and patrols are executed efficiently.

Responsibilities

Variable hours, MUST be willing to work days, evenings, and nights including weekends and holidays. The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position. 

 

  • Assist the Director of Security in training new staff members for each season.  Will also assist in creating and updating current training programs for security staff.
  • Leading by example to ensure that all duties are performed and completed by Security Officers on shift.
  • Perform security patrols across all base areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates, using both vehicle patrols and foot patrols.
  • Investigate and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Assists guests and employees in the resolution of problems they encounter on our property
  • Helps to prevent thefts, accidents and incidents on resort property
  • Being a point of contact for management questions when Director of Security is not on shift.
  • To be part of the team in providing a positive experience for our guests
  • Be willing to work evenings, potential late nights and on their feet for extended hours.  Heavy lifting of up to 50lbs unassisted required
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to make quick decisions regarding safety
  • Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.
  • Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability write and investigate required reports
  • Must be able to maintain control and rational demeanor in emotionally charged situations involving guests and/or employees
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3 years supervisor experience with one year of Security related experience. 

Must possess a valid Driver’s License clean driving record. 

Mus be 21 years of age or older.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Safety and Health

 

American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI)

Course Title:

Certified Lodging Security Officer (CLSO)

Certified Lodging Security Supervisor (CLSS)

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Prior law enforcement or military experience preferred
