Overview

Boyne Resorts is conducting a search to identify an accomplished leader to serve as the four-season resort company’s Regional Chief Operating Officer – Eastern Region, overseeing operations in Michigan and New England.  The Regional Chief Operating Officer (RCOO) is responsible for direct leadership, administration, coordination, and guidance for the development and implementation of resort-specific seasonal and long-term growth plans and operational strategies to drive goal attainment and continuous enhancement of the guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead creation of resort-specific short/mid/long- term plans, goals, and objectives and directly monitor operational alignment while overseeing each resort’s 10-year plan, including budgets, timelines, and tracking with ROI projections
  • Serve as a mentor and coordinate with resort general managers the development and implementation of business plans with focus on revenue forecasts, annual operating budget, product pricing, and capital improvement and maintenance budgets
  • Evaluate and regularly report on resort and regional performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics, and guide goal-setting exercises focused on continuous improvement of guest and staff satisfaction, and business performance
  • Engage in operations across all divisions/departments including mountain operations, golf, food and beverage, lodging, spa, marketing, human resources, information technology, retail, and real estate sales and development
  • Coordinate and champion companywide and resort-specific initiatives with other C-level executives, divisional leaders, and resort general managers
  • Guide the development of practices and policies which promote a culture of excellence
  • Monitor and evaluate risk management strategies and emergency preparedness programs

Qualifications

Requirements 

  • Broad experience in four-season resort operations – ski/snowsports, golf/summer outdoor recreation, food and beverage, lodging, spa, retail
  • Proven proficiency of planning, business, and financial capabilities
  • Commitment to work a schedule that is driven by the needs of the resort business including a requirement to work additional hours, weekends and holidays as necessary
  • Ability to negotiate agreements and contracts to the benefit of the company
  • Experience in and understanding of managing individually branded resort operations

Additional Qualifications 

  • Minimum of ten years’ leadership experience in the resort, amusement park, large attraction, and/or related industries
  • Extensive management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for skiing/snowboarding and other outdoor recreation
  • Proven recognition as a leader and teammate who exhibits kindness, respect and professionalism in all settings
  • Strong communication skills, clear and concise
  • Strategic thinker with ability to communicate a vision

  

Work Environment 

A flexible work schedule is necessary.  Maintaining an office at a Boyne Resorts location in northern Michigan or New England is required.  Travel throughout the year to resorts, corporate events, and industry functions is required.
